Color Trends For 2012 in fabric and Furniture

Having just gotten back from The Atlanta Gift Market, the colors most evident to me were Orange, Aqua/ Turquoise and shades of purple. The blue colors seen were more sea blue and navy. Don’t be afraid of color! The colors that are adjacent on the color wheel are this years’ dominant trend. Neutrals are still going strong. There were some additions of warmer neutrals put together with gold tones. Grays, deep pinks and golden yellow were shown as well.

(Adjacent colors are the ones that are located beside each other. For example: orange and yellow are considered to be adjacent)

Here is a example of the trending adjacent colors

Furniture had textured, layered, painted and sanded vintage finishes in colors, accented with gold and silver. It was very evident in Accent pieces, Case goods and Upholstered furniture. As for fabrics, linens and burlap were seen especially in lamp shades. Large stylized prints were mostly floral and geometrics. These were seen especially in area rugs. Remember dont be afraid of color!
